Lazy

Lazy lazy lazy. Tsk tsk. I kept up with my little cartoon strip for awhile then got distracted by another project (as per usual).

I’ve been trying just about everything I can find to make a good living statue costume – for makeup I’ve tried Kryolan and Ben Nye, and for the actual costume I’ve tried indoor/outdoor acrylic-latex house paint, a different kind of house paint, artist’s acrylics, 3 different types of acrylic craft paints, acrylic model paint.

I’ve tried glossy, matte, satin types of paint. I’ve expiremented with mixing in gloss clearcoat, fabric medium, acrylic gloss glaze medium stuff, etc. You name it I’ve tried it.

My biggest problem is making the clothes look smooth. Statues aren’t made out of fabric, they’re smooth and semi-shiny. You need a smooth surface to get that look with paint, and I can’t think of any way to treat clothing to make it smooth and yet still be bendable and durable to wear out. I’ve tried different fabrics – cotton, denim, satin, leather, fake leather, etc.

The texture always seems to come through the paint.
