Stupid, Protest-y “Feminists” at Lectures
There is a woman, maybe the same one, I don’t know, but there’s always one at EVERY scientific lecture or presentation that in any way involves discernible differences between men and women and how the differences relate to behavior.
Usually a large woman, with a disproportionately small backpack.
She sits quietly and listens to the reasoned and peer reviewed science presented by a well respected professor of neuroscience/psychiatry/biology, and as soon as the floor is open to questions her hand rockets up. Inevitably she gets her hands on a microphone (maybe she carries one around with her?) and proceeds to explain, at length, how everything she heard previously was wrong because men and women are exactly the same.
Whatever minute detail of the speech dealt with gender specific qualities or differences, it pissed her off. She’ll even fight for attributes you shouldn’t want to have. There was a presentation on the psychiatry behind suicide bombers, and as it turns out suicide bombers are far more likely to be men than women. And furthermore (and highly interestingly) the psychological motivations behind what makes a person commit to a suicide attack are usually distinctly different between the genders.
Except Rainbow (Just guessing at her name. I figured either Rainbow or Justice.) would like everyone to know that that’s a load of bollocks, and that women are just as likely to be suicide bombers (which is factually and demonstrably wrong. And do you really want it to be true?) and their psychological motivation should be exactly the same.
Notice how I used the word “should” there? Her reasoning is not based on any empirical evidence, but simply on how she thinks the world should be. Feelings of inadequacy ignited by the perceived attack on her “equality” spurn her to talk at length until someone practically wrenches the microphone out of her hands.
Momma said we’re all the same, so damn your science!
Oh God, how do such stupid people penetrate the halls of academia.
